How Do I Make Sd Card Default Storage For Download Photos On Android

  1. The camera is set to store on SD card but I don't think other stuff is going in that location like when someone sends me a film message and I save the picture I think it's going to internal storage or when I download a PDF file from the cyberspace. I googled and every site says this but I don't sympathize where to go. I can discover content settings in the chrome browser but nix at that place that says default storage. I am on Verizon and I don't see a stock browser on this telephone similar my LG'south had so information technology just has chrome unless I am missing something. It's probably merely and I am just non seeing what to do. I merely want to make sure everything is set to salvage to the SD carte, excluding apps. Mary

Setting the Default Memory Storage to SD for the Internet App:

    1. While on a home screen, tap "Apps"
    2. Tap "Internet"
    3. Press the "Menu" primal and tap "Settings"
    4. Nether "Advanced", tap "Content settings"
    5. Tap "Default storage" and select " SD card "

    Hi

It would seem that the Verizon S5 does non have the "Net" app, which is Samsungs stock browser, installed past default. I have institute an article hither

How to Get Back the Stock Android (AOSP) Browser Without Rooting

which is a method of installing it without rooting, merely I'm not sure its worth it. I dont know of a way to make Chrome automatically download to the extsdcard.

    Roger

  3. Well that stinks, you mean if I salve a photograph from a webpage I take to recall every time to transfer it over to the SD card from the internal storage? What virtually if someone sends me a picture text or a photo in e-mail? I know virtually cloud but I like everything saved to SD carte when I get it. That seems like something so minor that should be unproblematic to accomplish without jumping through hoops. Mary

I suspect that might be considering lately, Google does not really encourage external storage cards. Wait at the Nexus devices - no build in external storage.

Not proverb information technology is right, but that'south likely the reason why Chrome doesn't provide the pick to store to a different location.

Try this out for me though:

    • Download and install ES File explorer (others may piece of work too, but I oasis't used those)
    • Open up ES file explorer, and become to settings/directory settings/download path - set up that to your SD carte du jour
    • In settings/apps, clear out the defaults for Chrome app.
    • Try to download something. This time, yous should become prompted for "what app to employ for download", and you lot should see ES download manager as an selection. Select that, and set that as a default

    Does that help?
  5. Ok I utilise ES on my tablets so know what that is and how to use it. Will endeavor in a bit and postal service back. It's not just so much when I view a webpage but what about when I get a photo in e-mail or in a text message? Is there no choice to set the default on those to the SD card? Distressing merely I estimate I am confused after having come from 2 different LG phones on T-Mobile the latest being the L90 and you lot could just set the default storage to the SD card so picture texts and email photos would automatically become to the menu.

If y'all wait on the T-Mobile site for this telephone at that place are instructions for storage one being internet so can I assume that on T-Mobile this device comes with a stock browser that will do that and on Verizon it doesn't? If I had gotten that new LG g3 on Verizon would I have been in the aforementioned boat with storage? I was debating between the 2 phones and thought I would try something dissimilar this fourth dimension so picked the Samsung. I like it simply information technology's just these storage issues that are annoying me as I guess I thought all phones stored the basic stuff similar picture texts and electronic mail stuff to the SD carte du jour. I don't know, but I hope you lot volition get a similar prompt. I have a Nexus device, and then can't try it out.
    Exercise share your findings :)

Edit: By whatever chance, are you rooted? If so, there may be options available

  7. Forgot to say I am not rooted and have no plans to root as I know nothing about that and don't want to go there. Going to play in a bit and see what happens. Mary
  8. I stopped at a Verizon store today and with this phone you can't save directly to the SD carte. I explained to her what I wanted to do and she looked at my phone and was dislocated and so had to go practise some research and came back and said you lot have to save it and so move information technology to the SD card which I kind of thought was what she was going to find out and then no sense in trying a file manager as I don't recollect that will make a difference.

That seems like such a simple feature that should exist included. I don't care near apps but when I become an email with an attachment or a text with a photo seems featherbrained I have to go through and extra stride to get it on the bill of fare and recall about doing it. I told her on my LG there was a setting to tell it to salvage to SD card and when she checked she said she wasn't seeing that LG phones could do that either but my L90 could on T-Mobile so maybe it's Verizon that does non let this? I don't know but I volition take to make do and only think when always I get sent a photo or document to move information technology over to the card manually. Mary

    Y'all tin also purchase a sandisk ultra micro sd card and download the sandisk retentiveness zone app, an yous tin transfer music, videos, pics, documents, fifty-fifty support your entire phones content to your SD bill of fare with the retention zone app, free from Google play.     You actually need a SanDisk Ultra Micro SDHC or SDXC card, as the carte is specifically made for android devices(phones, tablets ect.) I bought mine @ The Source, A 64 GB on sale for $59 merely any size will work, once you have the menu installed in your phone, all you need to do is download the gratis app from the play store, its called SanDisk Memory Zone app, it'due south not bad every bit you tin set it upwardly to store all your content to the card or add a single picture and even add together online storage services such equally DropBox, Box ect. to the bill of fare besides, to free internal memory, music, photo's, video'southward, documents, contacts, emails ect, even support your entire phones content. I'm in Canada and not certain if you take The Source where yous live, only any electronic store should carry the SanDisk Ultra Micro SDHC/SDXC card...Beneath is the info for the carte du jour;

To be honest, I don't think it will matter (unless the app somehow has restrictions on what type of card it will work with).

I haven't used the app, but y'all should be able to install it and see if it does the trick (with your existing card). If it doesn't work, and tells you that information technology needs that specific type of card, then you tin can consider buying the other card. Only no sense in spending that actress coin when the bill of fare yous accept works fine.

  13. misfit

I'd also like to come across if your regular Sandisk card will work with the zone app from the play store, but your card will not have all the features every bit the ultra does, information technology comes in all sizes (128, 64, 32, 16, 8 GB) and so your non breaking your bank to purchase one, and it states it's specifically made for the sandisk zone app, please allow me know if your able to use the zone app with your regular card. I'1000 curious. but I opted for a 64 GB model every bit it was on sale for $59, regular $130
And with the ultra card information technology has more features, like Waterproof, temperature-proof, X-ray-proof, magnet-proof, shockproof, and then it goes hand in hand with the S5 existence water proof as well...

Shoot and salve more high-quality photos and Full HD video on your Android smartphone or tablet with SanDisk Ultra microSDHC and microSDXC UHS-I Cards. SD™ adapter included for compatibility with digital cameras

  14. Thanks sounds exactly what I need . Mary
  15. misfit

Your Welcome! The other posts (methods) exercise work as well, just why bother with all the hassle, when the Sandisk ultra micro sd card an zone app does it all for you lot or you can choose what to move from internal memory to external memory with the zone app, I love information technology!
  16. Ok the app doesn't say you demand the special carte du jour then going to try it when I get a chance. It seems y'all move stuff to the SD card same as I have to do now but it sounds like you can come across all the files in one shot and so that sounds similar a prissy thought. If I find I need the improve card will order one as that card looks squeamish so this might be a good system for my new tablet besides. Mary

I opted for the Sandisk Ultra 64 GB because it was on sale for clay cheap and it says it "Shoot's and save more high-quality photos and Full Hd video on your Android smartphone or tablet" and you can manually set the app upwardly to move photo's, videos, ect to the sd menu weekly, or one past 1 or all files in one shot with a characteristic chosen "Optimem" is which I think is really prissy. That is why I got this card, the other options is to much hassle. If I were you, I'd get the card every bit it has more features than the regular i as it's specifically made for android devices! Cheers!

  18. NO, it does Not exercise that. To practise that, it would require ROOT access, which the app does not have.

What information technology does is allow you lot to re-create files to the SD card -- which is really no different from the routine file manager apps out there.

  19. I can move and copy to the SD menu now without this app. Does this app automatically salvage to the carte du jour when I download a photograph or certificate or practise I still accept to motion it to the carte du jour? If I withal have to move it to the card then what's the sense? I wish there was a manner to back up my settings and all like my LG telephone had. Mary
  20. misfit

yes y'all tin, relieve pictures, videos, docs automatically, you tin set up information technology up weekly to do it for you

or when ever I accept a picture show or video, I have it set to save to my 50 GB space of dropbox online storage, which is likewise on my sandisk utra

    Attached Files:

  21. I guess what I mean is every bit soon as I download a picture or certificate from electronic mail and a picture from text does it do it on the spot and salvage it to the carte right then or do I still accept to move it over to the card? Mary
  22. misfit

with the card, y'all can add online service storage like dropbox for case to the card, and when ever I snap a pic it automatically goes to dropbox on my card and I as well accept my dropbox synced to my PC also, and so when ever i take a movie or shoot a video or save a medico, it uploads wirelessly to my PC likewise.

I have dropbox installed on my card and it uploads content automatically to my carte and my pc

    http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/SanDisk-Memory-Zone/SanDisk-Retentiveness-Zone-FAQs/td-p/246272

  23. OK so you have to add an online storage place to practise that though right? It doesn't save right to the card without having dropbox or some such? I take used driblet box and similar it so that would piece of work. Honestly though information technology was much easier with my LG. I just ticked a setting that said store everything on the card and that's where all my photos and documents went. When I need the files on my calculator I would just transport them over through Bluetooth. Mary

I've been doing some reading and establish that since the KitKat update, apps are no longer immune to save files to any folders on the external storage other than that apps individual directory. (supposedly a security ready)

For example, if yous install a 3rd political party photographic camera app...the only identify you tin can save your pictures is to the camera apps individual folder. If you uninstall the app, you lose all your pictures.

Not certain if I have all that completely accurate, merely what i understand is that having an SD menu is far less useful since the kitkat update.

Has anyone heard anything about Android Fifty reverting this change?
